It’s National Poetry Day …

… and the theme is Water.

I’ve spent a wonderful day at Barford St Peter’s Primary working with Years 4 to 6. We’ve read lots of poems about water, explored water with all our five senses, conjured up some fine watery images and written dozens of wonderful brand new poems to celebrate National Poetry Day.

In the process we’ve talked about: metaphors and similes, alliteration; onomatopoeia; personification; and the three ‘R’s: Rhyme, Rhythm and Repetition.

Look out for more pictures of the event and some of the children’s superb poems on this site soon. In the meantime you can read some of my Water poems here.
